BASIC TIPS TO MANAGE  A DOSHA IMBALANCE

1. Do not eat foods that will cause an excess in your dosha. Instead, consume opposite foods  that will create balance. People with dominant Kapha doshas are naturally heavy and so they should should avoid eating heavy, rich and fatty foods. Pitta persons already have excess heat in their body and so eating heat-producing or spicy foods only creates imbalance. Vata is dry and cold and should therefore avoid cold foods.

2. Ayurveda believes that we can correct imbalances in our Dosha by adding the exact opposite. For example, an imbalanced Vata will need moist, nourishing and warm foods as well as warmth in emotions. An imbalanced Pitta will benefit from curd which can help cool the excess fire (Pitta) inside the body. An imbalanced Kapha needs light and energy-providing foods.

3. Meditation and Yoga are immensely beneficial in balancing the Doshas. Yoga involves all organs of the body and meditation calms the mind. The basic philosophies of Yoga and Ayurveda are very similar and originated from the same culture thousands of years ago.

4. Ayurveda also believes that our body will take a certain amount of time to recover completely from an illness, regardless of whether we resort to herbal or allopathic medicines. it is preferable to use natural remedies as far as possible.

5. Last but not the least, if we stay mindful and heed the signals that our body sends us, and take timely and  corrective actions, the body is fully capable of healing itself.
